It’s December already! Seriously, where does the time go??
It seems like Christmas has crept up on me, and I’m left high and dry without any gift ideas for anyone. Great, right?
Which is weird for me, I usually get most of my Christmas shopping done months in advance. The only reason I can think of as to why I was so well prepared was because I worked at Safeway, so as soon as Halloween was over, it was Christmas all the time, every day, all day at that place.
You’d have thought me to be quite the Grinch if you saw me at work at the time. The Christmas songs they play on repeat could drive anyone insane. Have you ever heard the instrumental version of The Twelve Days of Christmas?? Have you?? It’s SO repetitive and ridiculous, I just want to pull my hair out.

When will it ever end?
So naturally, when I’m stressed I bake. And I thought: Why not use up all these Tootsie Rolls left over from Halloween and make my first fudge ever?
And then a brilliant idea came into my head: what if, as a backup present for anyone I forget, I will give them some of this festive fudge.
And how is it festive? Well I made them with green and red M&Ms…DUH!
This fudge had just the right amount of sweet with hints of peanut butter coming through, that I really don’t think I can make a better holiday treat than this. But of course, this won’t stop me from trying.
Tootsie Roll Fudge
Ingredients
- 2 cups tootsie rolls
- 2 Tbsp peanut butter
- 2 Tbsp salted butter
- 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- M&Ms
Instructions
- Line an 8×8 inch square pan with aluminum foil. Lightly spray the foil and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the tootsie rolls, peanut butter and butter over low heat, stirring constantly. Slowly mix in the icing sugar, milk and vanilla.
- Pour the mixture evenly onto the prepared pan. Press the M&M’s into the fudge and let cool. Cut into squares.

I'm not a huge tootsie roll fan, not because of flavor but because of the chewiness. I think its a genius idea to melt them down and make them into fudge. I bet this tastes great 🙂
