This Eggless Chocolate Mug Cake recipe made in the microwave. Ready in under 5 minutes, this makes a great last minute dessert idea.
To all the fathers out there, Happy Fathers Day. I hope Sunday brunch happened, and you are all full to the brim with hash browns and omelettes. I know that I am.
Which means that even though I want to make a cake as well, I don’t want to make one so big that it feels like we need to finish it all. And plus, my dad will only eat a little bit of said cake, so I would be forced (but oh so willing) to eat the whole thing. What’s a girl to do?
Indulge in my new obsession of course! After the peanut butter mug cake that I made two weeks ago, I have caught the mug cake bug, and have been making them far too often. I should put a warning label on these posts. This Eggless Chocolate Mug Cake was so moist, and not as spongy as your average mug cake recipe. And as an added bonus, it can be made when you run out of eggs. Which somehow happens too often around here.
An added bonus of not having any eggs in the batter is that you can taste test it as much as you want without being worried about the raw eggs. That is a win win in my books!
This week, I have already made this recipe 4 times, and I don’t think that it will let up in the next few weeks. Because when you can satisfy your chocolate cake cravings in less than 3 minutes? You know that you can always count me in!

You just need 7 simple ingredients to make this quick dessert fix. All you need need to make this microwave mug cake is:

That’s it!
Tips & Tricks
One of the most important things about making a mug cake is to make sure you are using a microwave-safe mug! A large coffee mug works great, but if you only have a smaller mug, make sure that you watch the mug cake carefully while it is in the microwave. Mug cakes tend to rise while cooking, so it is very important to stop the microwave when it gets above the mug line. A small bowl also works to make this mug cake, as long as it is microwave safe.
You can make it into a vegan mug cake! The best part about this eggless microwave chocolate mug cake is how versatile it is. Instead of using regular milk, this mug cake works well with any other milk alternatives.
Keep an eye on the wattage of your microwave. The microwave power is a very important thing to consider. On most microwaves, this mug cake works well at the regular settings. If your microwave is usually more set to a high power, you may need to change the recipe to different cook times. The first time you make it, I would suggest taking the mug cake out of the microwave every 30 seconds or so and try giggling it. If it seems like the cake is fluffy with a small amount of liquid on top (think moist cake) it is done.
Make it fancy! I love having a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and drizzling it with chocolate syrup or chocolate sauce. Make it your own! However you make it, this mug cake is the perfect dessert to satisfy your dessert cravings.
