Easy Red Velvet Oatmeal makes the perfect breakfast recipe for Valentines day, or any other day you want a beautiful sweet treat in the morning.
Okay, I’m sure you all could see this recipe coming a mile away.
Since I post a new oatmeal recipe weekly, this red velvet oatmeal made specifically for Valentine’s Day was a pretty obvious next recipe to post.
Plus, I can’t resist a pretty breakfast. Especially one that involves sprinkles.
Okay, so the sprinkles are completely optional. I might be the only one under the impression that eating sprinkles for breakfast is totally normal. In fact, my breakfast this morning consisted of sprinkles in my oatmeal AND in my tea.
That’s what I call adulting done right 👌.
And you can bet I will be doing this again for breakfast on Valentine’s Day.
Apart from eating too much chocolate and making things that I eat red, I don’t really do anything for Valentine’s Day. In the 9 years I have been with my fiance, I think we only celebrated it once. And it was after my shift that ended at 11pm. We ended up curled on the couch watching horror movies.
You can tell we are a couple of romantics, right? 💕
This year, we have a school inspection on that day. So instead of having it as a day for love and relaxation, this is going to be a stress filled day. The one day that everyone is sort of dreading to go to work.
So I basically need this oatmeal to power me through the day.
I made coloured this oatmeal with food colouring, but feel free to dry it with beet juice or raspberries if you have some on hand. This was all I had, and I just wanted a cute Valentine’s Day breakfast, dang it!
I think that this oatmeal will be a sort of tradition from now on. I will have this oatmeal for breakfast, and then make some of these Easy Cake Pops for dessert when I get home. That is, if I still feel up to it after the inspection on Wednesday.
So nervous! Someone, hold me! 😫

I hope the inspection went well, and this is a great way to start Valentine’s Day or any day for that fact.

Thanks Pam! It is one of my favourite oatmeal combos for sure 🙂

Potentially dumb question – but would this taste just as good if I subbed water for the milk?
atasteofmadness
Not dumb at all!!
It definitely won’t be as creamy as mine, but by mixing in the yogurt that should help with the creaminess.
