Easy Birthday Cake Oatmeal recipe for a quick and healthy way to celebrate your big day in the morning. Add ice cream if you want to make it extra special!
It has been a while since I made an oatmeal recipe on here lately!
That is mainly because I have been making my Blueberry Apple Holy Crap Oatmeal on repeat, almost on a daily basis.
But today, I wanted an oatmeal that I could also have for dessert. An oatmeal to reward me for all of the hard work that I have been doing lately.
That is obviously code for: an oatmeal with a scoop of ice cream and sprinkles on top!
To say that I have never had sprinkles for breakfast would be a lie. Do you remember that time where I made Red Velvet Oatmeal for Valentine’s Day?
Let’s just say I reserve having sprinkles for breakfast on special occasions.
Special occasions such as Valentine’s Day or birthdays. Or Tuesdays.
To be honest, it’s not even my birthday. In fact, my birthday was all the way back in January. I don’t think I even know anyone with a May birthday!
The real reason behind making this Birthday Cake Oatmeal is because I found my Birthday Cake Tea wayy back in my cupboard this morning. It is one of my favourite teas, so I don’t really know why or how it got pushed all the way to the back of my cupboard.
Obviously a sign that I need to do a serious cupboard clean-out sometime soon.
So to celebrate finding my happy place tea, I made an oatmeal using it.
What you need to make Birthday Cake Oatmeal
All you need is 5 ingredients:
- milk
- strong brewed birthday cake tea
- rolled oats
- ice cream
- sprinkles
That’s it!
If you don’t have this tea, you need to get it ASAP. It makes me so happy when drinking it, and it makes killer tea lattes. Which is the main reason I bought it in the first place.
The tea gives this Birthday Cake Oatmeal a birthday cake like taste, without the birthday like calories. And hey, this oatmeal is actually pretty healthy if you exclude the ice cream and sprinkles.
But where’s the fun in that? If it’s your birthday, enjoy yourself! And even if it isn’t, you deserve it!

First of all never heard of birthday cake tea, but does sound interesting and secondly I too love sprinkles and feel guilty adding it my ice cream occasionally as I get teased that I’m a kid. Love the idea of treating oneself with some oats and ice cream.. awesome.
atasteofmadness
No reason to feel guilty about sprinkles 🙂
