Easy Valentine’s Day Cake Balls recipe. Made with only 5 ingredients, this sweet treat makes a great last minute dessert idea.
Life with a newborn makes doing anything so much slower.
It’s a miracle if I can have a shower and get dressed before noon. So I am in need of some seriously easy dessert recipes.
These Easy Valentine’s Day Cake Balls are all I am going to be making for the next couple of weeks, I swear.
One piece of advice when making these Easy Valentine’s Day Cake Balls: I would roll the balls with latex gloves on. Making the balls gets messy quick, and having gloves on makes cleaning a breeze.
Because we want to keep this recipe as easy as possible. Clean up included.
What do you need to make these Easy Valentine’s Day Cake Balls?
You’ll be shocked how little you need:
- white cake mix
- frosting (I used premade)
- white chocolate chips
- coconut oil
- Valentine’s Day sprinkles
That’s it!
If you want an even easier cake pop recipe, try my 3 ingredient Easy Cake Pops. But since I haven’t seen a McCain cake since I left Canada, I will stick to these almost as easy recipe.

Easy Valentine's Day Cake Balls
Ingredients
- 1 box white cake mix
- 1/3 cup frosting
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 Tbsp coconut oil
- Valentine's Day Sprinkles
Instructions
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Bake the cake according to package instructions. Allow to cool completely.
- Using a stand mixer, mix together the cooled cake and the frosting until fully combined. Set aside.
- Place the white chocolate chips and the coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, mixing until smooth.
- Form the cake into balls using your hands. Dip them in the melted chocolate and place on the prepared cookie. Sprinkle with sprinkles.
- Place the cookie sheet in the fridge (or freezer) until the chocolate is hardened.
Notes
- Allowing it to cool in the freezer results in a harder cake ball, and it will have to be kept frozen to avoid condensation forming. Allowing them to cool in the fridge will result in a softer cake ball that can be stored at either room temperature or in the fridge.
- Switch up the sprinkles to enjoy for any occasion.
