Easy Taro Oatmeal recipe. This unique breakfast idea is gluten free and can be made vegan. Tastes like your favorite boba drink.
If it weren’t for my mom, I probably wouldn’t have developed such a love for taro.
My mom’s favourite flavour of bubble tea is Taro. She gets it every time. No exception. I always wanted to try something safe and fruity. Like strawberry or mango. But once I tried my mom’s taro bubble tea, I was hooked. And now I buy taro powder regularly to keep up wit my obsession.
And what do you know? My taro obsession merged with my oatmeal obsession to form this Taro Oatmeal.
What you need to make Taro Oatmeal
You only need 4 ingredients!
- rolled oats
- milk
- chia seeds
- taro powder
That’s it!
Substitutions and Variations
The thing about oatmeal is that it is pretty versatile. You can switch out the liquid to be whatever you want, as long as the liquid to oats ratio is 2:1. I did all milk as my liquid, but you can have half water, brewed tea, coffee… whatever your heart desires.
And this recipe can actually be altered into any flavour, given that you have other powdered flavourings. I love bubble tea, so I have a LOT of powdered flavours, but if you have hot chocolate mix, that would work too! Get creative with it, and use what you have on hand!
