Easy Almond Joy Easter Egg Nests recipe. These delicious treats make a great last minute Easter dessert idea that are so much fun to make.
Easter is coming early this year!
For me, the joy of Easter is making Easter themed recipes. Egg shape, bunny shape, nest shape.. whatever I can think of that is Easter related I am going to be making.
But this year, it came so soon that there was no way I would have time to make any ambitious projects I was planning, such as an Easter bunny cake. For the first time, Easter crept up on me without me being aware of it. This recipe for Almond Joy Easter Egg Nests is a great recipe to make at the last minute if you are also having a hard time keeping up with all these holidays this year.
And because I have become OBSESSED with Almond Joys ever since I moved to the US, I had to make these Almond Joy Coconut Chocolate Nexts. In Canada, we only have Bounty Bars, which just aren’t the same as an Almond Joy Candy Bar. They are basically just chocolate candy coconut bars, with no almonds in sight. I need the almonds to be in the mix!
These Easter Nests are the perfect size for when you want a sweet treat, and make the best holiday candy dishes. The mini eggs on top make an even sweeter surprise to this already sweet combination.
Almond Joy Easter Egg Nests Ingredients
You just need a couple of simple baking ingredients to make these Easter Candy nests. All you need is:
- chocolate chips
- coconut oil
- unsweetened shredded coconut
- sliced almonds
- mini eggs
That’s it!
Tips
You have to use sliced or slivered almonds. Unfortunately, whole almonds won’t allow you to create the nest shape that you are looking for. Make sure that you are using crunchy almonds, and that they aren’t expired!
Storage: Store these Almond Joy Easter Eggs Nests in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Make sure that you use paper liners! Homemade chocolate tends to stick to your muffin pan, so it is important to use either paper liners or silicone muffin liners when making these Almond Joy Chocolate Candy Nests.
Do not try to substitute the coconut oil. Because coconut oil hardens when cold, it is really the only suitable oil in this recipe. Oils such as vegetable oil, sunflower oil or safflower oil will remain liquid even when cold.
Variations
Switch up the chocolate. When you make the melted chocolate for the nests, try using another kind of chocolate chips. I love using dark chocolate or creamy milk chocolate, but any chocolate that you have on hand would work for the chocolate coating of these Easter nests.
Fill the nests with your favorite Easter candy. It doesn’t need to be mini eggs. Put in some Jelly Beans, peeps, or even peanut butter cups.. really anything you like.
Make the nests into Easter baskets. If you have a string of licorice, you can attach it to the top to make the nests look like baskets!
