It is apple season! My absolute favorite time of year. The fall months are making me bake with the cozy apple and cinnamon flavor all the time, and I can’t get enough.
So here we go with making all the fall flavored baked goods, starting with these Apple Streusel Muffins. These apple cinnamon streusel muffins are one of my favorite things that I have made lately. The combination of shredded and chopped apples makes for moist muffins that are perfect to go with a cup of coffee.
I think I have made these muffins the most out of any recipe on my website. It is one of the most requested muffins that I make, and I am happy to oblige because it is such an easy recipe.

Apple Streusel Muffins Ingredients
I am almost certain that you have the following ingredients to make this apple streusel muffin recipe:
Apple Muffins:
- all purpose flour
- baking powder
- baking soda
- salt
- ground cinnamon
- ground nutmeg
- unsalted butter
- white sugar
- brown sugar
- eggs
- vanilla extract
- shredded and diced apple
Streusel Topping:
- brown sugar
- all purpose flour
- ground cinnamon
- melted butter

Tips
Storage: Store these apple crumb muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
Freezing: To freeze, wrap cooled muffins in plastic wrap, then freeze in a large freezer bag for up to 3 months.
What are the best apples to use? I love using tart apples like granny smith apples, but I often use sweet apples like pink lady as well. Honestly, any apple that you have on hand will work!
Add some more warm spices. If you have it, try adding some apple pie spice to give these apple cinnamon muffins even more of a fall flavor.

Apple Streusel Muffins
Ingredients
Muffins
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large apple, peeled and cored, 3/4 shredded, 1/4 cut into cubes
Streusel topping
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp all purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp salted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375˚F. Line muffin pan with paper liners, or lightly spray a muffin pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the 2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and nutmeg.
- In a large bowl, cream together the 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat well. Slowly add the flour mixture, mixing until fully incorporated. Fold in the apples.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin pans.
- In a small bowl, combine the streusel topping ingredients together. Sprinkle over the muffins.
- Bake for around 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Place on wire racks to cool completely.
