Easy Banana Nutella Cups recipe. Made with only 3 ingredients, this is a great way to use up your last banana.
I think that I have a love hate relationship with Nutella cups.
On one hand, I love that I can get a quick and easy hit of that Nutella flavor so easily. But on the other hand, it is way too easy to eat way too many of them. Usually when I am craving banana and Nutella, I will make some Nutella and banana sandwiches. But now that I have discovered these Banana Nutella Cups, I don’t know if I will go back to the sandwiches again!
I am always trying to find fun new recipes with the banana and Nutella combo. Whenever I find the ripest bananas with brown spots in my fruit bowl, my go-to recipes are to make Nutella banana muffins, or banana Nutella puff pastry cups when I am too lazy to mash bananas. However, my 2 year old toddler is now obsessed with foods in muffin cups because he thinks of them as “samples” from Costco. So now every time I go to the grocery store, I am stocking up on paper liners, Nutella and bananas. I guess you can say, I will be making these Banana Nutella Cups on repeat around here.
Banana Nutella Cups Ingredients
You are just 3 ingredients away from making these Nutella cups. All you need is:
- Nutella – or any chocolate hazelnut spread
- bananas – unripe bananas work great, but overripe bananas can be used too
- coconut oil – or ghee
Equipment
- mini muffin pan
- mini muffin liners
- large bowl (make sure it is microwave safe!)
Tips
Storage: Store these Nutella cups in an airtight container either in the fridge or freezer. Do not keep them at room temperature, as they will melt.
Coconut oil substitutes. Unfortunately, oils like canola oil or avocado oil do not work as they do not harden when cold. You can however use ghee.
Can you use something other than Nutella? You can use whatever spread you like! I love peanut butter and cookie butter. In terms of having the chocolate and hazelnut flavor, you can buy any variety of chocolate hazelnut spread. The off brand kind usually works just as well as the name brand one. I also found out that there is an American version and Italian version of Nutella. I have only tested this recipe out using the American one, but I don’t see why the Italian one won’t work just as well.
