Are you dreaming about a butter slathered, meat abundant, sugar loaded Thanksgiving?
Am I also dreaming of it even though I am living in America’s hat? Well I don’t see why I can’t have another Thanksgiving when I am seeing so many fantastic recipes that make me want to eat the world.
But can we not have things both ways? Can we not feel like we are indulging in something completely sinful while still being somewhat healthy?
Well my friends, that is where this recipe comes in.
Now as anyone who knows me, or my blog might guess, I am not one to skimp on the dessert. I will put all the butter, sugar and oreos into most things I bake. But these brownies? They have it all without having it all, if you know what I mean. Without all the butter, or sugar, or..oreos that I am so used to throwing into my baking.
But now that I think of it…oreos sound pretty good in brownies…
Even though this is my first black bean baking recipe on my blog, it is not the first black bean baking recipe that I have made. I made a black bean cake years ago in my old home for my dad and sister. I didn’t tell them what was in it, but my sister thought it was one of the best cakes I have ever made.
If you are weirded out about black beans in a brownie, I am telling you. DON’T BE! No one will know the secret ingredient. They will only know how delicious it is when they take their first bite. Trust me. I taste tested this recipe on my boyfriend, who might be the pickiest person on the planet, and he really liked it. He thought it kind of tasted like a rum ball, but better. Which is why it was gone within a day.
I mean it’s all about balance. Have your butter and turkey, and finish it off with some delicious black bean brownies.
And the best part about this recipe is that it’s so easy. Plop ingredients into food processor, mix in chocolate chips, pour into pan, bake in oven… boom. Done. The most effort that you’ll need to make this is getting the ingredients from your cupboards.
It’s a treat that keeps on giving.

Cathleen, this is very, very interesting! I can't imagine using black beans in a brownie but I would really like to try it. Got to get those black beans first!

Mmmmm this looks fantastic!
I remember making black bean brownies for the first time a couple of years back as well, I think it was kind of becoming a thing then, aye? Mine turned out a lot more crumblier back then, as I didn't process it as finely, but it was still unbelievably tasty 😀 Yours look a hell of a lot better in front of the camera though, mmmmm and the mentioning of rumball – I want this! x

I have to tell you that I made black bean brownies. And I have to tell you that I did not read the can ingredients. Though the front of the can said black beans, it was not until I made them into brownies that I looked at the label. Yes, it says they contained spices of garlic and cumin, both of which I like; EXCEPT in brownies. Not sure I could get them past hubby again! However, these look great!

Ok, so to tell the truth, it is possible I am one of those people scared of black bean brownies. Although you may have just convinced me I definitely need to try them out! These sound amazing!

These look so delicious! I have heard of bean brownies but never got a chance to try them. I bet they are so scrumptious too. In Asian culture we eat red bean bao cakes which are sooooo good! So I know how sweet and delicious bean paste can be! ^_^
Thank you for sharing, Cathleen! Have a happy holiday.
