Easy Blackberry Sauce recipe, perfect for topping your waffles, ice cream, pancakes.. or just eating with a spoon! Made special with peppermint vodka.
So I think I have found the one and only berry sauce that I will ever make. Right when it is late summer and berries are going out of season. Go figure. As soon as something is in short supply, all I want to do is buy it. Probably the reason Yeezys are so popular. But I digress.
This sauce is like a fusion of summer and winter. Fresh blackberries, sugar and PEPPERMINT VODKA. Yup, I still have some leftover from winter of last year.
Because a girl’s gotta stock up on their favorite holiday drinks. Can’t let them go out of stock and have to wait another year to buy it again. But don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten about fall. I have a few pumpkin recipes lined up for you guys in the coming weeks.
This blackberry sauce is so freaking good, I couldn’t wait for it to cool. I just scooped it into my mouth while hot, burning the roof of my mouth.
Solution? Ice cream. Which I then poured the hot blackberry sauce on top, which made the ice cream all melty. Seriously. In the best way possible.
Blackberry Sauce Ingredients
You just need 4 simple ingredients to make this delicious sauce. All you need is:
- fresh blackberries
- peppermint vodka
- white sugar
- cornstarch
- a bit of water (does water count as an ingredient?)
Tips
Storage: Store this fruit sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
My favorite ways of using this sauce: This sauce is perfect on sweet or savory dishes. For sweet ones, I love it topped on French toast, using it as an ice cream topping, or spread in between cake layers. For your savory main course, it is a great topping for pork chops or filet mignon.
Variations
Balsamic blackberry sauce: Add as much balsamic vinegar as you would like, tasting while adding small amounts in until you get it to taste the way you like it.
For a sweeter sauce: Add in more sugar, or try mixing in some brown sugar or maple syrup.
Swap out the vodka. I like to use dark rum instead, but you can also use your favorite alcohol or omit it altogether.

Perfect recipe for me…we are in Spring and blackberries are in season here plus I just harvested a ton of blackberries from my garden before the birds get to it. I am going to love trying this out…but minus the seeds so I will strain it. Thanks for the great recipe Cathleen… cannot wait to try this one out 😃
