Whenever I look in my spice cupboard and see that I have only about 1/4 teaspoon of a particular spice left, what is my first instinct? Not to buy more. Oh no, that sounds like something a normal person would do. I obviously dump it into the next drink I make.
Like the time I made Chili White Hot Chocolate. Now that was a good drink. I would never had put chili powder in a drink had I had more than 1/4 teaspoon of this spice. It’s a compulsion I tell you!
I’m just wondering whether I will still be that crazy when I have 1/4 teaspoon left of oregano..
What do you think? Oregano hot chocolate? Mocha Oregano Latte? Will any of these drinks be the new food trend? You heard it here first folks!

It just started raining again after some gorgeous days we’ve been having, so I needed something warm and comforting in this cold weather. And this Ginger Hot Chocolate really hits the spot. The best part is, it’s so easy to make! It’s the perfect drink to start your morning off, or to relax with at night.

Ginger Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- pinch of sea salt
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- whipped cream
Instructions
- Heat the milk and water in a small saucepan. When it begins to simmer, lower the heat and whisk in the agave syrup, white sugar, ginger, cocoa and sea salt until fully combined.
- When the hot chocolate is at your desired temperature, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream.
This looks delicious. You can always put your oregano in a bloody mary 😉
The hot chocolate looks divine!
What a delicious hot drink! There is still snow outside, so might as well make myself some hot chocolate! 🙂
So many great hot chocolates have shown up on my feed this past week!
YUM! What a great combo!
My favorite part of hot chocolate is that part just under the whipped cream–where it's like half melted whipped cream, half hot chocolate and it's all bubbly and creamy. Maybe that sounds weird, but I LOVE that I can see it in the photos! 🙂
What a great idea!
I am drooling here.May you please remove word verification.
What is word verification?
word verification is what appears after we write a comment on your blog. it's mumbo jumbo that we have to type so our post will appear. it is a pain but it helps you fight spam, so i would say, keep the word verification. i have recently been attacked by a lot of spam comments and am spending lots of time deleting them. like i get adds for sex toys as comments for my food… GROSS!
It is really great idea 'to improve' up hot drinks with spices 🙂
Just add that oregano to your pasta sauce 😀 Lovely flavor combination and great for our rainy weather here !
I love your chilli policy my friend 😀
Great results!
Cheers

The ginger is a great idea in this. Looks awesome! Love your spice policy, too, although I hear what you're saying about the oregano – not going to work, alas. Good stuff – thanks.
This is just what I need this Sunday evening.
Ginger and chocolate sounds like a great combo.
Cathleen, I can't wait for you to make a drink with oregano 🙂
I love using different spices in hot chocolate – ginger sounds perfect (oregano — hmmmm… should be interesting, lol. Maybe in a Bloody Mary).
Nice flavors, I love ginger! This would warm me right up 🙂

I really love chocolate with spice. This reminds me of a chocolate covered candied ginger that I really love. Can’t wait to try!
Chocolate covered candied ginger? OMG that might have to be the next recipe I try! 😉
This is such a scrumptious drink! I love the combo of ginger and chocolate! Can’t wait to see what you do with that last teaspoon of oregano! Pinning for later!
Haha, thanks for the pin 🙂
It’s June and I should be craving frozen drinks. But spring hasn’t even arrived here yet, so I’m all about this cozy drink. I love ginger, so pairing it with hot chocolate sounds amazing to me!
Right!! Why is it so cold still?? This is my favourite drink to warm me up 🙂
