I have finally bought an ice cream maker you guys!
Seriously, hands down, the best thing I have bought in the last, oh I don’t know. Long time. The best part about it though? I didn’t actually pay for it. I bought it with my airmiles. Because, sadly, I’m not going to be traveling anywhere anytime soon, so I may as well get some ice cream out of these points.
But why. Why, do you ask,did I buy this at the end of summer?
Well, you clearly have never tried the good old ice cream and tea combination. Now this is fantastic for many reasons. One: it’s great for any time of the year. The cold and the hot balance each other out. Two: if you drink black tea (like I do) it gives you a sweet treat to enjoy. And three: well, ice cream is just magical anyways, so I needed one anyways.
But I didn’t make ice cream with it. I wanted to try something easy to start out with. Hence, the 4 ingredient (well, pretty much 3 ingredient) sorbet. It’s cool, it’s refreshing, and it’s the best thing I could think of having right now.
What you’ll need:
-2 1/2 cups water
-1 1/4 cups sugar
-zest of 2 lemons
-1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, mix 1/2 cup water with the sugar and the lemon zest. Heat on medium heat, and mix frequently until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add the remaining 2 cups of water. Refrigerate until completely cold.
2. Stir the lemon juice and freeze in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instruction. Place sorbet in an airtight container and freeze until ready to serve.

This looks refreshing! I would love to have a ice cream maker too, if not for the lack of kitchen space.

Lemon Sorbet is the best! And yes, although the summer is ice cream season, you want to serve a palate refresher midway through a nice meal, yes? And isn't a sorbet perfect for that? So your ice cream maker is great for cold weather, too!
