First of all, I want to thank you all for the advice on my ant situation! I bought some Raid trap poison…things, and they worked wonders! I haven’t seen an ant in here for a couple of days now, and I am ecstatic!
Okay. Enough about ants. Let’s talk my new obsession: oatmeal!
If you have been following me on Instagram, you may have noticed that on my Instagram stories I have been sharing my adventures in oatmeal almost every day. This is not even me exaggerating. I am pretty sure I went through a bag of oats only by making oatmeal these past few days.
And I have got to admit. This classic mocha oatmeal is one of my favourites so far.
So here’s the weird thing about me. I love coffee.
Okay, no, that is not the weird thing about me.
The weird thing is that I have no way of making coffee at home! I mean, apart from instant coffee. But let’s be real. That’s not really coffee.
So how do I get my coffee fix? Um.. let me just say that I am a regular at Starbucks. And it doesn’t help that my students’ go-to gift for me is Starbucks gift cards. I promise, they do not go to waste.
As a frequent visitor, I get free coffee refills. So what I do is drink as much as I can staying in the store, then have another refill as I’m going out the door in my coffee tumbler. So I have some cold coffee in the fridge at all times.
While making iced coffee or putting the coffee in my cupcakes is usually my go-to use of my cold Starbucks coffee, I tried replacing some of the milk in my regular bowl of oatmeal with the cold coffee. Oh. My. God. It changed my life.
Now I get a chocolate and coffee hit, all in one bowl. And I like that it is not so sweet: only lightly sweetened with honey and some chocolate chips mixed in. Just the way I like my mochas!
I have made this so many times, both with vegan versions (made with almond or coconut milk) and with regular milk. Really what I have on hand, and either way it comes out delicious.
Be prepared to see a lot more oatmeal recipes up on the blog. For all of you out there who though oatmeal is boring and bland, think again!
