Are you over the blended baked oat tiktok trend?
Because I definitely am not! This viral recipe has a chokehold on my. Anything that makes it seem like I am eating cake for breakfast is okay in my books! And these Nutella Blended Baked Oats definitely tastes like a decadent dessert, but is so much healthier!
If you haven’t tried baked oats, you need to try it ASAP! This has all the same ingredients as a regular bowl of oats, but it tastes like a cake-like breakfast treat. I can’t believe that blending and baking oats can make your healthy breakfast go from a regular bowl of oatmeal to a literal cake. I mean, look at that fluffy texture! Oatmeal has never tasted so good.
Nutella Blended Baked Oats Ingredients & Substitutions
You just need 7 simple ingredients to make these Nutella Baked oats. All you need is:
- old-fashioned oats – while I prefer rolled oats, you can use quick oats or even oat flour.
- baking powder – this helps the oats rise while baking.
- ripe banana – this gives the oats a sweeter flavor, and adds moisture. If you don’t like the banana flavor, you can also replace this with 1 egg and add in some pure maple syrup for sweetness.
- milk – any kind of milk will do. For vegan baked oats, use a creamy dairy-free milk such as oat milk or coconut milk.
- Nutella – or any chocolate hazelnut spread. I love making my own homemade Nutella if you can’t find any in your grocery store. You could also replace it with peanut or almond butter.
- hazelnuts – this adds some crunch to the oats. You could also omit this, or use your favorite toppings instead.
- hazelnut chocolate – because this recipe isn’t very sweet, it adds some more sweetness. You could replace it with any chocolate that you like.
Tips
What type of blender to use: It is essential that you make these oats in one of those small blenders. The one that looks like a single-serving smoothie maker. Do not try to use your large blender, as you will not get the desired cake-like texture. A small food processor would also work.
Make it more protein packed. You can add in a scoop of protein powder to keep you fuller longer.
Ramp up the chocolate flavor. This is a good base recipe, but if you love a good chocolate oatmeal try this. Add some cocoa powder to batter, then top with more chocolate chips. I personally love white chocolate chips when I want something sweeter, or dark chocolate chips when I want a rich chocolate flavor.
Add in seasonal fruit. I love topping it with fresh berries in the summer and lemon zest in the spring. But experiment with whatever you have on hand!
