Easy Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake Cups. Creamy peanut butter cheesecake filling mixes perfectly with the chocolate cake layers.
Ever since going to the Cheesecake Factory for the first time, my 2 year old toddler has been obsessed with cheesecakes. He requests cheesecakes almost every night, and begs us to go back to the Cheesecake factory. Unfortunately, the Cheesecake Factory is about a 45 minute drive from our house, which is a long time to be in the car with a 2 year old and a newborn. So, last night I decided to make some cheesecakes at home.
However, upon realizing that we didn’t have any heavy cream at home I started to panic. I promised my 2 year old the best cheesecake of his life, but without heavy whipping cream I didn’t think I could do it.
But where there is a will, there is a way. And I think that I have just made the best dessert involving cheesecake ever. Not only did I not require heavy cream, I didn’t need to worry about doing a water bath for the cheesecake. Needless to say, these Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake Cups were a huge hit with my toddler. I foresee that I will be making a lot of cheesecakes in the future.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake Cups Ingredients
These cheesecake cups are the perfect dessert to make at the last minute if you already have some leftover cake. All you need is:
- cream cheese
- sweetened condensed milk
- smooth peanut butter
- leftover chocolate cake
- peanuts
Tips
What chocolate cake to use? My favorite chocolate cake recipe to use for the layers of chocolate cake is my Chocolate Sheet Cake. But even store bought cakes would work!
Storage: It is best to store the layers separately, then assemble when ready to eat. I like to store the layer of peanut butter cheesecake in an airtight container in the fridge. The chocolate cake can be stored in an airtight container either at room temperature or in the fridge. If you really wanted to prep the cups in advance, skip the toppings and cover each individual cup with plastic wrap. Then when ready to serve, add the toppings.
Add some toppings. Always add the toppings right before serving, otherwise they will get soggy in the fridge. I love using crunchy peanuts, but some other toppings you can use are crushed Oreo cookies, chopped mini peanut butter cups or whipped cream. You can also melt some peanut butter chips or semi-sweet chocolate chips and drizzle it on top.
