Peppermint Bark Chocolate Bread recipe is basically a cake with melted chocolate and crushed candy canes on top. The perfect dessert for Christmas.
So.. up until now I STILL have some leftover crushed candy cane from Christmas.
Last year when I tried saving it for next Christmas, I pulled it out only to notice that it fused together into one giant ball of spiky candy cane. Which means I better use it now, right?
And plus, this recipe can double up as a St. Patrick’s Day recipe. So I am actually 2 months ahead of the game instead of 2 months late.
I actually made this bread for the first time way back in December. I was trying to make Christmas recipes, so this is what I came up with.
Unfortunately, I made it look awful. There was no way I was going to post it on my blog.
I showed the end product on my Instagram story, and for some reason, I got SO many requests for the recipe. I wasn’t expecting that at ALL, so I promised to remake it and post the recipes.
So here we are, 2 months later. Finally got around to doing it!
This cake was inspired by my Peppermint Bark Brownies but this time using green and red melting chocolate. The reason being, I went to bulk barn the other day (aka: my happy place) and noticed that they were selling very large bags of green and red melting chocolate for $1. That’s a steal if I ever did see one!
I only bought one bag of each, since John is under the impression that we are going to go healthy for the new year. Which, to be fair, we ARE making an attempt. Just a very sporadic attempt.
This shouldn’t even be called bread. It is basically a cake in the shape of bread. Plus it is coated in TWO layers of chocolate. But maybe if I call it bread, it will make it seem like I am being somewhat healthy?
Nah, I don’t think I am fooling you. But this cake bread is so perfectly moist that I don’t think you would really care what it’s called. And the soft chocolate base is complemented so well by the chocolate and crushed candy canes.
And if you are worried that this will be too sweet for you, trust me. The only real sweet part is the chocolate topping. It goes perfectly with a cup of coffee or tea, or as a quick and easy grab and go snack.
So Merry Christmas. Or happy St. Patrick’s Day. Or happy.. Tuesday. Whatever your occasion, I hope you try this bread (cake) out!

This looks amazing, and now I really want to try those peppermint bark brownies. That leans more toward my taste than cake or bread. Making a note to myself to check the bulk bins for bargains next time I go shopping.

Can I ask if the topping firms up enough to be able to put into a bag for selling or do I need to put it in a box?
atasteofmadness
The topping does firm up enough to put in a bag.
