I think I need a chocolate intervention.
The other day I bought two whole bags of chocolate covered almonds, and have managed to finish them all in only 3 days. They were just sitting in my bag, and I would absentmindedly eat them while I did work. Oh lordy.
My excuse? “It’s cold outside, I need some insulation to keep me warm.”
My skinny jeans never stood a chance.
That is until I realized that instead of killing myself with what is practically a full bag of sugar, (hey, it has almonds in it. Healthy?) I have decided to make some soup to keep me warm on these cold winter days.
Seriously. It seems like it’s been winter for years. What’s up snow? Can’t we get a little break around here?
And even if this Split Pea and Ham Soup will not melt the snow around your house, it will melt the frigid feeling of winter with every spoonful. And it’s so easy to make too! I mean, soup without adding broth or anything? Count me in!!

The hubby loves split pea soup…and it is nicer on your figure than chocolate covered almonds, but I'd probably go for the latter, too 🙂

Such a great way to warm up! This recipe looks like just the right amount of soup too, not a ton but enough for leftovers. Cream, savory and totally soul comforting!
