Easy Sugar Free Yogurt Muffins recipe. This no sugar added snack is perfect for baby led weaning. Perfect for picnics or road trips.
Did I make this recipe for my baby? I absolutely did. But did that stop me from eating almost half of the batch slathered in butter and jam all by myself? Absolutely not.
I am not usually one to do refined sugar free recipes. If you have spent a little time on my site, you may have picked up on that already. But as I have a 1 year old child, I need to alter a lot of what I make to be less sweet, less salty and less spicy than what I regularly make. So that lead me to make these Sugar Free Yogurt Muffins.
The best thing is, both my baby and I love it. Evan loves it just plain (and that’s how we give it to him anyways) and I love it with butter and a whole lot of jam. Which makes this a win in my book. Any recipe that is loved by both baby and parents is a good thing, and will be made over and over again in my kitchen. And with no added sugar, it makes me feel better about serving him a fluffy muffin as a healthy snack.
Sugar Free Yogurt Muffins Ingredients
This recipe mainly uses simple ingredients that you probably already have at home. All you need is:
- all purpose flour
- baking powder
- baking soda
- salt
- plain yogurt
- unsweetened applesauce
- unsalted butter
- eggs
- vanilla extract
That’s it!
Variations
Mix in some fruit or different flavors! This muffin recipe is really just a base recipe for mix-ins. I love adding in some fresh blueberries and some lemon zest to jazz it up a little bit. The juicy blueberries are such a nice treat in these delicious yogurt muffins. But any mix-ins you could think of would work. Think raspberries, strawberries, chocolate chips.. the possibilities are endless.
Make them whole wheat. Usually when I make a healthy recipe for muffins, I will make it with white whole wheat flour. I didn’t have any on hand so I used regular white flour. You could also use oat flour if you wanted to make these as a gluten free option.
Add in a healthy sugar substitute. While this recipe doesn’t include any sugar at all, it may be a little plain for most people (who aren’t toddlers). I would suggest adding in some pure maple syrup or some coconut sugar to the muffin batter. This will give it just the right amount of sweetness for adults who want to eat these muffins too.
Tips
Do not line the muffin tin with muffin liners. Because of how little oil there is in these muffins, the bottom of the muffins will stick to the paper liners. Instead, spray the muffin tin with cooking spray (I love the coconut oil cooking spray), and cook as directed on the recipe card.
For perfect distribution of muffin batter, use an ice cream scoop! I used to use a cookie scoop to scoop the muffin batter into each muffin cavity, but I find that those scoops are too small. For best results, make sure that you are using an ice cream scoop.
Storage: Store these muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for around 7 days. You can also meal prep these and store them in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Are the eggs needed? I don’t see them listed in your steps of how to make the muffins.
