Easy Vanilla Yogurt Bread recipe. This quick loaf makes a simple lightly sweet, nut free snack or tea time treat.
Every time I make a recipe to go with my afternoon tea, my 1 year old toddler wants it. Be it donuts, cookies, zucchini bread or yogurt cake. I have shared it all with my child. And his tiny little hands just come back for more.
This is why I am always trying to figure out new recipes to make for him that are not too sweet. And so, this is how this Vanilla Yogurt Bread was created. Out of necessity. So that next time I am drinking my morning coffee with this bread, I will not feel as bad about sharing it with my toddler. There is nothing better than a fresh loaf of bread of any kind, and I hope to teach this to my toddler. No need to run to the grocery store for something to eat when you can make it yourself at home.
Vanilla Yogurt Bread Ingredients
This is such an easy recipe with simple ingredients. All you need is:
- all-purpose flour
- white sugar
- baking powder
- baking soda
- salt
- eggs
- vanilla extract
- vanilla yogurt (plain yogurt or sour cream works well too)
- oil (I use avocado oil, but canola oil or any neutral oil works well)
- coconut milk
Variations
One of my favourite things about this recipe is how versatile it is! The last time I made this easy yogurt bread was for my 1 year old toddler so it is pretty plain. But it can be made your own in so many different ways.
Get creative with the mix-ins! Some of my favorite things to mix into this homemade bread is chocolate chips, or fresh berries. I love mixing in some orange zest or some maple syrup for extra sweetness. Or really anything that you can find at the farmer’s market these days. Fresh fruit is always best!
Toppings are key. If you wanted to add something extra to the top of the bread, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar or some coconut sugar on top. The ground cinnamon really makes it feel like fall. The sugar makes the crust crackly, and compliments the soft crumb of this bread really nicely. Brown sugar on top is also a good option.
What to serve this Vanilla Yogurt Bread with: I love warming it up and serving it with fruit jam or honey. Another thing I love doing is to mix yogurt and jam in a bowl and spread it on top. Vanilla Greek yogurt also works well. It just gives it that extra little oomph of vanilla flavor that I love.
