Another month, another Secret Recipe Club assignment!
I love this time of the month. Even though I have been out of university for over a year, I miss being assigned “homework”. And baking is an assignment that I will happily do.
This month, I was assigned Making Memories with your Kids, an amazing blog by Erin who loves sharing ideas for things to do with your kids (great blog name, it basically says it all!) And though I don’t have kids, I am pretty much a kid at heart; which made me want to make everything on her blog.
My first attempt at making these was a bust. I burned the white chocolate while I was melting it, and then proceeded to try to pipe it through a ziplock bag. It felt like the chocolate was burning my hands, and it just wouldn’t pipe through the hole I cut! It actually busted my bag open! Imagine the scene: white chocolate all over the table with a ziplock bag broke open, and me almost on the verge of tears.
It was like the ziplock bag got brutally gutted, with it’s white chocolate innards splattered all over my kitchen. Must be Halloween soon.
But my second batch worked like a charm. The melted white chocolate was smooth and piped out of the bag perfectly. I added chocolate chips to look like a whole bunch of flies got stuck in the web.
And while I usually need to clear all of the spiderwebs around the house because my boyfriend won’t come within 2 feet of an actual spider, he was more than happy to try out these Halloween treats. The sweet of the chocolate and the salty of the pretzel sticks make this the perfect snack to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. And spooky enough to make in time for Halloween!
White Chocolate and Pretzel Spider Webs
Ingredients
- white chocolate melting wafers
- pretzel sticks
- chocolate chips
- piping bag or large Ziplock bag
Instructions
- Melt the white chocolate. Scoop into a piping bag or a ziplock bag with the tip cut off.
- Arrange 8 pretzel sticks into a star formation. Pipe some melted white chocolate in the middle to hold the pretzels together. Make 2 or 3 circles around the center of the star to form a web. Place chocolate chips on the “web” to make it look like flies that got caught.
