Dutch Apple Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 medium apples, cored and cut into slices

Cinnamon Sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉. Lightly spray a 9 inch round cake pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg and vanilla.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and cinnamon.
  • Alternate between mixing the flour mixture and milk into the butter mixture. Mix until just combined.
  • Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan. Arrange the apple slices over top in a spiral formation.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon sugar ingredients. Sprinkle over the top of the cake.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven for around 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
